Please note all of our printing services are non-refundable.
There is a small service charge of a minimum amount of £1 on all of our printing requests via web, email or otherwise, plus any print costs. Printing service charges vary depending on the job at hand (for example if you need us to re-size a photo which needs cropping and manually re-sizing the service charge is priced FROM £1 and is subject to vary with every job.
Separate requests submitted are subject to a £1 service charge per order. For example if you emailed an order through to be printed at 3pm in the afternoon and then decide to order more files at 3:30pm, there is a £1 service charge applicable to both orders. (Applies if more than 10 minutes have passed).
In using our print request web form, or any other methods used to request printing you therefore accept liability for printing that we, Axworthys, may carry out on your behalf to the best of our ability, given the present information that you have provided us with.
We cannot accept responsibility for any printing carried out due to lack of specific instruction in your original request to us or slight alterations in artwork, for example the contrast difference between the screen on your device and the physical printed version, or we have printed on paper for you, when you would have liked your document printed on glossy card, but forgot to state this in your original request. Our team members will carry out your request at their discretion, using the information (or lack of information) that you have provided.
If insufficient print instructions are included in your request our team member may have to assume how you would like your printing carried out for you using their best judgement - if this is incorrect the customer is liable for all print costs incurred and the costs to re-print due to this lack of print instructions. If you decide to contact us at a later date after submitting your request it may already be too late as your order may have already been carried out.
In store we print all files just as you send to us, as they arrive. We do not read or edit the files that you send in. For example, If you send in a screenshot, we will print the screenshot as it is, without cropping.
We will also not be held liable for printing attachments you did not intend to send us - any costs for this will be incurred by the customer alone. Please check and double check all attachments before sending to ensure you are submitting the correct files. There is no way for us to know that you have sent us the incorrect file and will assume that you have only sent us the files that you need printed. We understand that mistakes do happen, however we cannot absorb the costs for this.
If you need specific pages of a document printed, ensure you tell us this in your original request otherwise our team member will print the entire document for you, unless specifically requested to do otherwise. For example, "Please print pages numbered at the bottom on document called 'DOC1'; 1, 4, 10, 48, 52 in colour, on 80g paper, A4 size, 1 copy of each page please".
Pre-payment
In some cases (usually over £5) we may contact you before carrying out your request to request pre-payment. This is usually done by email - the email will detail the cost of your order and how to make a payment. Bank transfer preferred. If you need to pay by card over the phone please note there is a 25p service charge for us to key in your card details by phone, this is due to the costs incurred by our service provider to process payments this way. Your card details are not stored and will only be used for the authorised transaction on that particular order.
Failure to collect
In the event that you have submitted a print request which has been printed in good faith and have failed to collect, we will chase payment and will require pre-payment from you for any future requests you submit and may result in being barred from using our services. We are a small business and print most small orders in good faith - we are unable to absorb the costs for neglected orders.
Proof approvals (applicable to some orders)
Depending on your order, after payment has been made, we are happy to offer you 1 printed sample which will be included in your overall order total, if applicable, to your order. If any design(s) need alterations, please note additional printed samples/proofs are priced individually (plus P&P if we need to post it out to you, ask for cost).
In most cases you will be required to call in store to view and approve a physical printed proof. This is to ensure that you are 100% satisfied with how it looks in person before we run the entire order off for you, as it can look different from an on-screen version. In the event you cannot call in store to view this in person we can email you a photograph or scan of your physical proof. Please note that between differing screen device contrasts, the lighting in store and other contributing factors, that the proof can still appear different to how it looks in person, so please be aware of the risks taken when approving your proof(s) this way. We always recommend viewing in person.
In the event that your proof has been approved (either method) and the printed order is not to your liking for any reason please note that we do not accept any liability for the costs of any reproductions and would not be able to offer you any refunds against your order. Any reproduction costs are incurred by the customer alone. We welcome amendments on all orders right up until payment is made, but once payment has been made and proofs have been finalised, we are unable to amend any file(s) further.
How long is my quote valid for?
Please note quotations are only valid on the day of creation and are subject to change at no notice. This is due to ever-fluctuating supplier prices that we incur for printer maintenance, ink & toner, paper, card stock, etc.
Resizing images to specific sizes
In the event that we need to manually re-size images for you we may charge anywhere up to £5 service charge to help to cover the time staff members have spent arranging and re-sizing for you. To avoid this additional service charge please submit the photographs pre-cropped to the exact sizes you need and ready to print (just £1 service charge applicable instead). For example, size it as you like and save it to a word document and save it as a PDF before submitting it.
Personalised printing services
If we have designed your artwork for you we will send you an electronic proof via email, for your approval before we continue to carry out the works necessary. Payment before we continue to printing is mandatory, due to the custom nature of these services. Once your proof(s) have been approved and the works have been carried out we are unable to accept any liability for costs to re-print if for any reason the design/print isn't to your liking, for example if you need to change details, etc.
Colours & densities, etc.
For 75% of print jobs we use our Canon laser photocopier to carry out the work. Due to the auto gradation process colour, density, block colour and quality can sometimes drastically vary from on-screen versions. Please be aware of this when paying for orders as for most orders we do not run a sample off first. For those particular about the above details, we can use our inkjet printer as an alternative which is better for colour accuracy, however the inkjet printer is not suitable for large orders, especially those with lots of block colour, due to the ink type. The ink used with inkjet printers can be very wet and may soak the card or paper stock – laser is best for A4 publications with lots of block colour on. You are always welcome to pay for 1 copy so you can confirm whether you’d like to go ahead and place a larger order.
Colour print will likely always vary from the electronic proof you receive via email. This varies between different screen contracts, brightness settings, screen protectors, etc.
This service is payable per every print we run off, as per your instructions. Naturally we cannot absorb costs to give out any 'free samples' (for example if the artwork you have submitted is designed incorrectly and as a result the printed version is not to your liking). We merely print your files and images as they are submitted when ordering by email or website.
Stapling
We do not offer free stapling services. If you need to use a stapler whilst in store we charge 0.06p per staple. We sell affordable staplers and staples to fit in store, ready to purchase when you collect your order.
