Please note all of our printing services are non-refundable.
There is a small service charge (minimum of £1) on all of our printing requests via web, email or otherwise, plus any print costs. Printing service charges vary depending on the job at hand (for example if you need us to re-size a photo which needs cropping and manually re-sizing the service charge is priced from £1 and is subject to vary with every job.
Separate requests submitted are subject to a £1 service charge per order. For example if you emailed an order through to be printed at 3pm in the afternoon and then decide to order more files at 3:30pm, there is a service charge applicable to both orders. (This applies if more than 10 minutes have passed since ordering). Save money by ensuring you've ordered everything you need in the one request.
In using our print request web form, or any other methods used to request printing you therefore accept liability for printing that we, Axworthys, may carry out on your behalf to the best of our ability, given the present information that you have provided us with.
We cannot accept responsibility for any printing carried out due to lack of instruction in your original request to us or slight alterations in artwork. For example the contrast difference between the screen on your device and the physical printed version, or we have printed on paper for you, when you would have liked your document printed on glossy card, but forgot to state this in your original request. Our team members will carry out your request at their discretion, using the information (or lack of information) that you have provided.
If insufficient print instructions are included in your request our team member may have to assume how you would like your printing carried out for you using their best judgement - if this is incorrect and you'd like to re-print for any reason, the customer alone is liable for all print costs incurred and the costs to re-print due to lack of print instructions. If you contact us after submitting with print instructions it may already be too late to accommodate this as your request may have already been carried out.
In store we print all files just as you send to us, as they arrive. We do not read or edit the files that you send in. For example, If you send in a screenshot, we will print the screenshot as it is, without cropping. Please crop images before submitting for print.
We will also not be held liable for printing attachments you did not intend to send us - there is no way for us to know you didn't intend to send them. Therefore any costs for this will be incurred by the customer alone. Please check and double check all attachments before sending to ensure you are submitting the correct files. We understand that mistakes do happen, however as a small business, we cannot absorb the costs for this.
If you need specific pages of a document printed, we will not know this unless you tell us this in your original request. Otherwise our team member will print the entire document for you, unless specifically requested to do otherwise. Remember to quote the actual page order numbers and not the numbers printed on the pages.
Pre-payment
In some cases we may contact you before carrying out your request to request pre-payment. This is usually done by email - the email will detail the cost of your order and how to make a payment. Payment by bank transfer preferred. If you need to pay by card over the phone please note there is a 25p additional service charge for us to key in your card details by phone, this is due to the costs incurred by our card merchant provider to process payments this way. Your card details are not stored and will only be used for the authorised transaction on that particular order.
Failure to collect
We generally don’t request pre-payment on small orders. If we’ve carried out your order in good faith and you then decide that you no longer require your order for whatever reason, we still require payment for your order. Failure to make payments on orders placed and carried out will result in barring of any future services in our store. As a small business, we cannot absorb the costs for uncollected orders – they all add up.
Will I need to approve a printed sample? (Doesn't apply to everyday orders)
In some cases – yes, but samples are not applicable to every order. Please ask if a printed sample is applicable to your order as it varies depending on the type of order. After payment has been made, we are happy to offer you one printed sample per item that you have ordered, which will be included in your overall order total. If any design(s) need alterations once you have viewed your sample(s), additional printed samples/proofs are priced individually at an additional cost to the customer (plus any P&P if we’re posting them). Gemma can confirm the cost.
We strongly recommend you call in store to view, feel and approve a physical printed proof. This is to ensure that you are 100% satisfied with how it looks and feels in person before we run the entire order off for you. Printed versions can appear differently to your on-screen versions and colours and densities will likely vary.
Please note if a significant amount of time passes from printed sample date to the date the rest of your order is carried out, the finished product may vary from your sample. This is due to an auto-gradation maintenance process which our machine undergoes weekly, which affects the colour hues and densities. This is out of our control. We recommend collecting and approving samples as soon as possible.
How long is my quote valid for?
Please note quotations provided are only valid on the day of creation and are subject to change at no notice. This is due to ever-fluctuating supplier prices that we incur for printer maintenance, ink & toner, paper, card stock, etc.
Resizing images to specific sizes
In the event that we need to manually re-size images for you we may charge anywhere up to £5 service charge to help to cover the time staff members have spent arranging and re-sizing for you. To avoid this additional service charge please submit the photographs pre-cropped to the exact sizes you need and ready to print. For example, size it as you need, save it to a Word document and save it as a PDF before submitting it. This way when we print it will print the exact size you intend.
Personalised printing services
If we have designed your artwork for you we will send you an electronic proof via email, for your approval before we continue to carry out the works necessary. Payment before we continue to printing is mandatory. Once your proof has been approved and the works have been carried out we are unable to accept any liability for costs to re-print if for any reason the design/print isn't to your liking, for example if you need to change details, misspelled names, incorrect dates etc.
Colours & densities, etc.
For the majority of our print jobs we use our Canon laser photocopier to carry out the work. As mentioned above, due to the auto gradation process the colour hues, densities, quality and block colour can sometimes drastically vary from on-screen versions. Sometimes it can be how to files were designed and the compatibility with our printer, but in most cases there isn’t much we can do about this. We are not a sole printer, our printing services provide a small part of the services of what we offer in store, as a result of this we do not have the highest possible quality machines which some companies who just offer printing services may use. Please be aware of this before paying for orders as for most orders we do not run a sample off first. If you’d like to order a sample before ordering in bulk, just let us know and we’ll price that up for you.
For those particular about any of the mentioned above, we can use our inkjet printer as an alternative which is better for colour accuracy, however the inkjet printer is not suitable for large orders, especially those with a lot of block colour. The ink used with inkjet printers can be very wet and may soak through the card or paper stock. Laser is recommended for publications/posters, etc. with lots of block colour on. As mentioned above, if you'd like to order a sample before committing to a larger order, we can price this up for you.
Colours printed will likely always vary from the electronic proof you receive via email.
This service is payable per every print we run off. Naturally we cannot absorb costs to give out 'free samples'. This goes for our photocopying service as well.
Stapling
If you need to use a stapler whilst in store, or would like your order stapling, we charge a small fee of 0.06p per staple. Alternatively, we sell affordable staplers and staples to fit in store, ready to purchase when you collect your order.
Thank you for taking the time to read our T&Cs before proceeding with any of our printing services.
